The Western Carolina alum and Hickory, NC, native is a member at The Cliffs of Walnut Cove, the host of the first of eight FedExCup Fall events. The Jack Nicklaus design may invoke memories of Old Greenwood’s Mountain course at Lake Tahoe, where two of the last three winners, Ryan Gerard (Chapel Hill) and Akshay Bhatia (Raleigh), both have ties to North Carolina. Poston has one win this season, the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday at Muirfield Village Golf Club, another Jack Nicklaus design. Steady throughout the bag, Poston arrives after earning T24 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and T22 at the BMW Championship to wrap up his 2026.
Top 5 – Jackson Koivun +270
I am a believer. Over the last three years, the pressure and spotlight have been directly on “the next biggest thing” in golf. He earned status on Tour through the PGA Tour University Accelerated in 2025 but waited until 2026 make the leap to the professional ranks. Turning pro after the U.S. Open in June, he defeated Scottie Scheffler by three shots in late July to win the 3M Open for his first win on Tour in just his third start as a professional. Last week, he earned his way on to the Presidents Cup team. Oh, and he’s 21. Fade him at your own risk.
Top 10 Longshot (including ties) – Kristoffer Ventura +420
The 31-year-old Norwegian missed the weekend in 11 of his first 13 starts of 2026 but has recovered nicely after the 4th of July. Earning T5 at the ISCO Championship began a run of five consecutive events cashing a check, including three paydays of T15 or better, including another T5 at the Rocket Classic. During his run, he produced 14 rounds of 20 at 68 or better. His worst round during this streak is 72, three times. Let’s gamble.
Same Game Parlay – Top 20 (including ties): Ben James, Ben Kohles (+540), and Davis Thompson
I am leaning on a bit of recency and regional bias. James, a graduate of the University of Virginia, opened with 62 and closed with 61 at the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro in his last start. Hitting the podium in third place, he earned his second top-five payday in his last four starts (T4, Corales Puntacana Championship). Kohles, another University of Virginia graduate, is shopping for his 13th consecutive payday across the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour this summer. In his previous 12 outings, he’s cashed T29 or better 11 times and lifted the trophy at the BMW Charity Pro-Am in South Carolina on the KFT. Thompson completes the trio and enters the week smoldering. His last three events of the 2026 regular season included T7 at the 3M Open followed by T8 at the Rocket Classic and T14 at the Wyndham Championship. On a brand-new layout, I am backing the most recent form to produce.
Top 40 (including ties) Longshot – Tyler Watts (+148)
This time last year, he was entering his freshman season at the University of Tennessee, but he had time to make the cut at the Procore Championship on his PGA Tour debut. Playing the Sanderson Farms Championship three weeks later, he picked up his second weekend tee time in as many PGA Tour events. The 2025 Sunnehanna Amateur Champion added the 2026 Northeast Amateur to his trophy cabinet, reinforcing his class and pedigree. The No. 2-ranked amateur in the world was also a member of the 2026 Walker Cup team that was on the losing side at Lahinch on the first weekend of September. Time for a fresh restart.
Top South American – Nico Echavarria (+186)
While Emiliano Grillo (+176) is the favorite in the six-man group, I am backing the newly minted Presidents Cup Captain’s pick. Before Captain Ogilvy made his selections, the Colombian, a three-time winner on Tour, planted the seed with a T12 result at the Wyndham Championship followed by another T12 in the first round of the FedExCup Playoffs in Memphis. The other four players in the group are truly outsiders, so I will pile on the Colombian and his quest to prove his Captain right!
Longshot Group C Winner – Blades Brown (+355)
Currently ranked No. 11 on the KFT points list with three events remaining, Brown is almost guaranteed a spot on the PGA Tour in 2027. A victory this week in North Carolina would confirm his place. Bouncing back and forth between Tours this summer, he earned paydays of T18 or better in six of eight PGA Tour events this year when he has made the cut. Unlike the other four PGA Tour members in this group who have not played competitive golf in weeks, Brown returned to action last week in Nashville (T49) and knocked off any rust that accumulated during the three-week break.

This Week – TOUR Championship
Cameron Young, with his two wins and two podium finishes at major championships, is going to break his month of nothingness this week.
Young, who cashed T37, T39, and T61 finishes over the last three weeks, arrives on zero form with zero momentum and appears out of gas. My plan was to save him, and I’m glad I did, because his last three starts would not have helped anything!
I also have Sam Burns, Ludvig Aberg, and Viktor Hovland on my bench.
Burns will be the backup.

The third and final leg of the FedExCup Playoffs will determine the FedExCup champion at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. Only one golfer will be crowned the winner after 72 holes, but players at DraftKings Sportsbook have multiple ways to win throughout the event. Let’s dive in!
Winner without Scheffler – Rory McIlroy (+640)
The career Grand Slam winner has done it all in the game, including proudly lifting the FedExCup trophy three times since 2016. In fact, all three of his FedExCup trophies were attained by winning the TOUR Championship. Tiger Woods is the only other player to win the TOUR Championship three times (1999, 2007, 2018). A victory this week on a track where he is more than familiar with what it takes to get it done would push McIlroy into his own atmosphere. Last week, he righted a ship that was lost at sea in Memphis. He ranked third in Strokes-Gained: Off the Tee, 11th in SG: Approach the Green, and 10th in SG: Putting. Trailing by five to start the final round, he pulled level with Wyndham Clark on the back nine before falling short (solo third). Blood in the water.
Top Five (including ties) – Xander Schauffele (+188)
That’s right, I am leaning heavily on the course form angle this week. I will also point out that these are the events that the best players on the planet circle on their calendars. This is it. This is the time to shine. Over the last decade, the Californian has run riot at the Par-70, 7,440-yard layout. He is the only winner of the event on debut (2017), and his gross totals during the Starting Strokes era were routinely in the top five. His streak of T7 or better in back-to-back events was halted by T26 last week in St. Louis. Back on the familiar grounds of East Lake, he should be pressing the leaders come Sunday.
Top 10 (including ties) – Robert MacIntyre (+176)
The Scotsman is making his third consecutive start at East Lake. In his first two visits, he posted 9-under-par and earned T17 money. He also closed with 64 in 2024 and opened with 64 in 2025. Closing with 65, tied for the low round of the day in Round 4 at the BMW Championship (T7), his WD from the FedEx St. Jude Championship is nearly forgotten. Also, he squared only six bogeys at Bellerive Country Club, an unfamiliar track. Steady off the tee and fantastic with the putter, he should factor again this week.
Round 1 – Head-to-Head Matchup

DraftKings Sportsbook has the full complement of LIVE markets, up and running early in the week for the field of 30 at the TOUR Championship.
On his previous three visits to East Lake, Morikawa opened with 64, 66, and 61 to get off to flying starts. After racking up 21 birdies, second only to Patrick Cantlay (25) for the most last week, he also played the Par-4 holes in 10-under. The Par-70 layout at East Lake will require similar focus when going low. Playing from the sprinkler line and racking up Greens in Regulation, his putter will be the key to posting a low one in Round 1. Kim tees it up in the TOUR Championship for the first time since 2023 and only for the second time in his career (2016).
Henley, a Georgia native, is the underdog to Gotterup, the three-time winner this season. I will lean on the Bermuda grass native to continue his hot play in Hot ’Lanta. He set the post-renovation scoring record with his opening-round 61 (preferred lies) in 2025 after posting 67 in 2024 and 65 in 2023. The Macon native and Columbus resident led the field in SG: Putting in Round 4 at the BMW Championship, gaining over FOUR shots on the greens. I’ll ride that hot putter against the favorite, Gotterup, the three-time winner this season. Give me the ‘Dawg in Georgia!
Top 20 (including ties) – Same Game Parlay (+240)
Gary Woodland (-205) returns to Atlanta for the first time since 2019. Needing a big finish at the BMW Championship to jump into the top 30, he lurked just one shot off the lead on Sunday before eventually cashing T4. The 42-year-old only squared four bogeys and a double bogey last week. Jacob Bridgeman (-198) opened 67-67 on debut at East Lake this year before drifting off to T27. This year, he won The Genesis Invitational, his first victory on TOUR, and he did it against a Signature Event field at Riviera. No longer the “new guy” on the range or just happy to be there, he should be focused on building off 66-67 to close for solo ninth-place last week in St. Louis.
During his first visit to East Lake in 2025, J.J. Spaun (-219) closed with 66, his best round of four. Last week, he opened 64-66 before fading on the weekend to T22. His strengths are finding fairways and GIR. Keeping it out of the almost four inches of Tifway 419 Bermudagrass will allow him to fire at more flags.

I am way past the “smart” point of the proceedings…
After all his close calls this season, Burns is a tough laydown, and Aberg is not too far behind. As usual, I default to my upbringing, Horses for Courses, and will ride with the 2020 winner on this track of the WGC-BI. Burns or Aberg will be the choice next week, unless Hovland pops back into one of his ridiculous heaters.
Thomas, who has not won since 2025 Harbour Town, currently resides at No. 38 and needs a big finish this week or next to force his way into the Top 30. The 16-time winner shouldn’t have any scar tissue to worry about if he is in the fight on Sunday afternoon in Memphis.

My angle this week would default to guys who enjoy or grew up on Bermudagrass and have no problem going low to break ties. The last time they were on Bermuda was in early May in Charlotte. Grass matters.

Winners Without Fleetwood, Matt Fitzpatrick, Wyndham Clark, and Sam Burns
The first edition at TPC Osprey Valley, a Par-70 layout playing 7,389 yards, featured a shoot-out with 18-under-par 262 necessary to qualify for a playoff. The top 35 players signed for just four rounds over 70 for the week, and each round of the tournament featured a score of 63 OR BETTER!
Eliminating the four players above knocks out the three top finishers from the Memorial last week (Clark -3rd, Fleetwood and Burns, T4) and the only three-time winner on the PGA TOUR this season in Matt Fitzpatrick.
Kristoffer Reitan (+2150) made his name on the DP World Tour in 2025 with three victories. After an unsurprisingly slow start to his PGA TOUR season, he has been electric after the calendar turned to April. The Norwegian has not missed the cut in his last seven events and picked up his first victory on TOUR at the Truist Championship, a Signature Event. He arrives 40 miles outside Toronto after playing his final 54 holes at the Memorial Tournament in 11-under-par for T6, including 65 during the marathon Sunday final round. Strong off the tee, his power will put him in premium positions to attack flags and rack up birdies. On a course where there is very little trouble off the fairways and surrounding the larger-than-average greens, he can press SEND all week.
I will add the other finisher at Memorial who shared sixth place, Alex Fitzpatrick (+3400), to this play. Also a winner on TOUR in 2026, the Englishman won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with his brother, listed above, and has not looked back. After his breakthrough win, he shared ninth at the Cadillac Championship before earning a solo fourth place at the Truist Championship. Playing his sixth event of the season, his only finish OUTSIDE OF THE TOP 10 was T75 at the PGA Championship.
My long shot is Aldrich Potgieter (+6800). The South African won the 2025 Rocket Classic at a similar parkland-style course with few hazards last summer. Quietly, he has picked off paydays in his last four and five of his last six, including for at T35 or better. He leads the TOUR in Driving Distance, however you measure it, and sits in the middle of the pack in GIR. Knowing he will have the freedom to fire away off the tee should pique his interest, but he will need his putter to pass through customs!
Top 10 (including ties) – Same Game Parlay – (+700)
Red-hot Wyndham Clark arrives after closing with 60 to win THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson and a solo third at a more demanding Memorial Tournament last week. His only finish outside T21 in his previous six events was an MC at the PGA Championship. This week, he returns to TPC Osprey Valley, where he made 20 birdies in 2025 but finished T59. I am pairing him with the 2025 playoff runner-up, Sam Burns. Making his fifth trip to Canada, he owns three top-10 paydays regardless of the course used for the national open. On a run of eight consecutive weekends, his next step is getting it over the finish line. He closed with 62 last year and circled 22 birdies and one eagle for the week. He would be on my short list for First Round Leader (depending on tee times, morning preference) as well!
Canadian Power Play – Top 20 (including ties) – Same Game Parlay (+750)
At the 2023 RBC Canadian Open at Oakdale Golf & CC, Nick Taylor became the first Canadian winner since 1954 when he sank THAT EAGLE PUTT to knock out Fleetwood in a playoff. Now a five-time winner on TOUR, he returns for his second go-around at TPC Osprey Valley and will attempt to improve on four rounds in the 60s and a T13 payday. He enters the week making the cut in seven consecutive events and has opened with a round in the 60s in his last five. I am pairing him with Taylor Pendrith, another GIR machine who cashed T27 here in 2025. The Richmond Hill, Ontario, native has not produced a top 20 result since the first event of the season, T6 at the Sony Open in Hawaii. The inspiration of his home open should be the tonic to kick him into gear. He has not missed the cut in his last five events on TOUR. Now it’s time to finish!
Whoa, Canada! Top 20 (including ties) – Same Game Parlay (+1400)
I have listed the veterans above; now it is time to get in on the new generation of PGA TOUR players from The Great White North. Sudarshan Yellamaraju and A.J. Ewart, both under 30, have forced their way into the conversation in their national open. In a perfect world, I would prefer this in a Top 40 market, but let’s gamble! After this week, you will get the U.S. Open, Travelers, Scottish, The Open and two FedExCup Playoff events. Plus, you gotta save somebody for The TOUR Championship, right?
Others to consider if you are chasing:
$4 million first place = It’s biggest winner’s check left, you know what to do.
The Memorial Tournament, played annually at Jack Nicklaus’ Muirfield Village Golf Club outside Columbus, Ohio, is the seventh of eight Signature Events in the 2026 season. It is the final Signature Event featuring a 36-hole cut. There are multiple markets to attack the field of 72 players at DraftKings Sportsbook. Let’s dive in!
Winners Without Scottie Scheffler
Scheffler won his opening tournament of the season, The American Express, but has not won in 10 subsequent starts. He returns to Muirfield Village as the two-time defending champion who has been beaten by a total of FOUR PLAYERS in his previous four events outside the Ohio capital city. If there is an event where the No. 1 player in the OWGR is going to find his way back to the winner’s circle, this may be the place. I’m buying insurance this week!
Ben Griffin (+3200) navigated a long, arduous Trump National Doral for a podium finish (solo third) to end April. Defending his championship last week at the Charles Schwab Challenge, he produced four rounds in the 60s, including 65 on Sunday to hit the podium (T3) again. Making his fourth start at Muirfield Village, he was the 18 and 36-hole leader in 2025 and played in the final group with Scheffler on Sunday before cashing solo second, four shots back.
Alex Smalley (+4800) made his first bogey of the week at Colonial on his 38th hole. He added just three more and cashed T3, his fourth top-10 payday in his previous five starts on TOUR. He was co-runner-up at the PGA Championship at Aronimink three weeks ago. Quietly ranked 11th in Strokes Gained: Total, his full bag and recent form makes him a perfect outsider this week in a field containing 18 of the 20 players in the OWGR.

Russell Henley (+150) and Patrick Cantlay (+196)
Henley arrives smoldering after circling birdies on his final three holes to force, then win, a playoff Sunday at the Charles Schwab Challenge. In the 2025 event, he posted two-under 286 to share fifth and cash inside the top 30 for the third consecutive season at Muirfield Village. In April at the Masters, he picked up his first podium of the season, sharing third place.
Cantlay is one of two multiple winners in the field this week. The champion in 2021 and 2019 shared third in 2022 and was the 54-hole leader in 2018 before he cashed T4. Only Scheffler, Tiger Woods, and Jon Rahm (not eligible) have better career scoring averages at Muirfield Village.
Top 20 (including ties) – Same Game Parlay – (+480)
Scottie Scheffler (-850), Jordan Spieth (+124), and Sam Burns (+126)
Spieth enters Ohio on a run of 12 consecutive cuts made on TOUR, including four of his last six T19 or better. At Muirfield Village, the “Augusta of the North”, he qualified for the weekend 11 times in 13 attempts and signed for T19 or better a whopping nine times. His last three visits resulted in T7-MC-T5. He owns a career scoring average of 71.40.
Making his seventh start, Burns produced the best three results in his previous three visits. In 2023, his even-par total was good enough for T16. He shared 15th place in 2024 on two-over. Last year, a second-round 65 tied for the lowest round of the week and helped to reach T12. He enters the week on seven consecutive cuts made, all T38 or better, and his previous top 10 was T7 at the Masters.
Top 30 – Familiar Territory – Same Game Parlay – (+400)
Veterans Si Woo Kim (-255), Shane Lowry (-102), and Adam Scott (-125) all have plenty of weekend experience at Muirfield Village. Kim owns nine paydays from 10 starts, including a current run of eight in a row. During his current run, seven results have paid T31 or better. The Korean was the 36 and 54-hole leader at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson before finishing third in his previous start on TOUR. Lowry has five consecutive cuts made with results T32 or better in four of his last five. Scott is also streaking with 11 weekends and counting, including a pair of top-10 paydays in his last five visits. He also cashed in 15 of 16 career visits. Before missing the weekend at the PGA Championship, the Australian rattled off four consecutive paydays of T24 or better. Lowry’s current form isn’t as bright, but he has played every weekend on his own ball since falling short at THE PLAYERS.

Scottie Scheffler (-150) lost to FOUR PLAYERS at this event in his last four tournaments. That’s the list. Half of the list is not in the field this week. The two-time defending champion cashed solo third in 2023 and solo third in 2021.
Akshay Bhatia (+455) missed the weekend on his 2023 debut but earned T22 money the following season and cashed T16 in 2025 with an 80 on the card. The three-time winner on TOUR already knocked out a Signature Event win at a very demanding Arnold Palmer Invitational in March. He flashed 67-65 to open at the Charles Schwab Challenge last week before fading to T28.
Rickie Fowler (+116) racked up three consecutive top-10 paydays before fading on the weekend at Aronimink to T60. He missed the cut last week at Colonial Country Club, but six of his previous nine paydays at the Memorial are T14 or better, including T7-MC-T9 over the last three years.

The Blue Monster
At 7,739 yards, the Blue Monster ranks second to Torrey Pines (South Course) for the longest track on TOUR in 2026. Unlike Torrey Pines, Doral has water on over half of the holes and twice as many sand penalty areas.
There is plenty of water and sand, but also room to work the golf ball from tee to green.
Green speeds will be a manageable 12 feet plus on the Stimpmeter, due to persistent ocean breezes in South Florida.
Hot and steamy conditions will make the golf ball fly. The weather should not be a factor until the final round on Sunday.

The pressure of getting his younger brother over the finish line on Sunday did not bother the older brother. The wobbly back nine was completed in style on the Par-5 finishing hole. Now, it’s back to work. The obvious choice this week is Scottie Scheffler against a perceived “weakened” field.
I completely buy that angle, especially after finishing second in his previous two outings.
Why would you wait to use Scheffler in an event with McIlroy, Fitzpatrick, MacIntyre, Aberg, Schauffele, Cantlay, Rahm, or DeChambeau playing? For an additional 400k at Memorial? Ok, he’s won the last two there, I won’t argue much.
If you are like me, I hope not, panicked, and took Scheffler already, there are choices below.
Not many have played multiple rounds or any tournament rounds here. There is no course history to provide an angle. I’ll remind you that Adam Scott and Justin Rose won here in their mid-30s. I will also remind you that Rose won at Torrey Pines THIS year. Funny old game…
