Fantasy Golf: GolfChannel.com Travelers

08-02-16

Fantasy golf can often become a humbling exercise, especially in the majors.

Part of me would have rather MC x 4 than actually collect any cash from the team I assembled last week.

HEY, ONLY $12 MILLION BEHIND THE LEADERS!

furyk

Yesssssssss!

2016 Earnings

$12,965,412*

2016 Rank: 16.129

*(if they counted my team from QLN it would be an additional $265,433 to my total)

NOTE: Groups are listed arbitrarily by OWGR by the Golf Channel for those of you new to the game.

Or don’t. It might be safer. Learn more from failing than from success? I should be a GEENUUS then…

Analysis

Group 1: Went with Gimpy Ankle because I won’t be making up any ground by taking Bubba here. I’d be shocked if he was less than 60% owned this week in this format. If you’re leading your league, of course you take Watson. Make the dead weight LIKE ME have to make difficult decisions. Grace and Reed merit a thought as they won’t have any problem closing the door on Sunday.

Group 2: ZJ is the safety-first angle and Simpson plus Casey make sense if ball-striking is your angle. Plenty of former champs in this group but Moore has done everything but win. Hatton’s form makes him a tremendous outsider.

Group 3: With a pair of podium finishes in just four TOUR starts as a pro I have no problem loading up on Rahm this week. For those of you who prefer “surer” things, Chris Stroud’s record here is nothing short of fantastic, minus a win.

Group 4: I’m disappointed that Stroud didn’t slide into this group so I’ll take another course horse in Duke. If you’re an ageist, don’t be*, but Appleby isn’t as old and Cauley is interesting. For the “I need just to make the cut” brigade, Michael Kim is just rolling along.
