Hey look, the PGATOUR season is back already!
The PGATOUR Fantasy game is back and a bit different but the great Rob Bolton has you covered.
The first week is always the toughest!
RIP Norm McDonald. The world isn’t as funny today.

Starting Scoring returns for year 3.
Somebody gonna win $15 million!
Patrick Cantlay leads the field of 30 at 10-under.
It might be THEIR finale but we’re finally done.
Congrats to those who set records, won tournaments and cashed checks.
I was 0-3 in those three categories but all was not lost.
A quick look back at 2020-21 and the 49 events and why last week didn’t surprise me one bit.
East Lake has been the host since 2004 so familiarity won’t hurt this week. The TOUR has used a couple of different formulas to determine the “winner” here over the years and I’ve sorted all of that for you as well. Patrick Cantlay enters the week as top dog on 10-under in Starting Strokes and we’ll go from there starting Thursday.
I’ll live off the gloree days of Segment 3 where I felt everything I touched turned to gold.
It was fun while it lasted!
Only angle this week to finish strongly is have Xander Schauffele do Xander Schauffele things on his personal playground at East Lake.
One last chance to move it on up!
Finally, it’s over.
My grand plan to storm the leaderboard starting at The Open and carrying into the FedExCup Playoffs was a dud.
Throwing the line in the water one last time this season for the game I’m playing.
Tom Fazio has had plenty of looks this season on TOUR. We’ll start there to try and crack the code here. Caves Valley hosts for the first time on TOUR and plays 7,542 yards to Par-72.
New track to the TOUR this week as Caves Valley in Owings Mills, Maryland will host the top 69 players (Patrick Reed WD) as they attempt to book their tickets to East Lake next week.
EXPERT PICKS: BMW CHAMPIONSHIP
| EXPERT | LINEUP | WINNER | COMMENT | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BEN EVERILL STAFF WRITER | Dustin Johnson Xander Schauffele Justin Thomas Cameron Smith Patrick Cantlay Viktor Hovland | Cameron Smith | He was a “stunned mullet” after his playoff drive sailed OB – much like Rob Bolton was watching me once again take the lead from him – but Smithy will bounce back in style with a win here. Rob wonโt. | |
| ROB BOLTON FANTASY INSIDER | Bryson DeChambeau Dustin Johnson Cameron Smith Justin Thomas Patrick Cantlay Jon Rahm | Jon Rahm | All right, itโs my turn to move back in front. Again. Gotta slow-play my last start on Rahm unless Ben is going to stymie across the board, but there are too many useful options to win that game of whack-a-Bolton. | |
| MIKE GLASSCOTT FANTASY CONTRIBUTOR | Patrick Cantlay Dustin Johnson Jon Rahm Justin Thomas Bryson DeChambeau Scottie Scheffler | Jon Rahm | The only things to slow him down this season have been COVID and a hurricane delay. I don’t think either of those are in the forecast this weekend! I only have one start left so he’ll begin on the bench. | |
| SEAN MARTIN SENIOR EDITOR | Dustin Johnson Collin Morikawa Scottie Scheffler Justin Thomas Tony Finau Xander Schauffele | Justin Thomas | Ended THE NORTHERN TRUST on a good note with some late birdies to jump up the leaderboard, and he thrives when the FedExCup Playoffs start to heat up. | |
| CAMERON MORFIT STAFF WRITER | Tony Finau Rory McIlroy Cameron Smith Justin Thomas Collin Morikawa Jordan Spieth | Justin Thomas | A very quiet T4 at THE NORTHERN TRUST, but he birdied four of the last seven holes and just looks like heโs due to win again. | |
| JASON SOBEL THE ACTION NETWORK, GOLFBET | Charley Hoffman Dustin Johnson Xander Schauffele Scottie Scheffler Keegan Bradley Keith Mitchell | Dustin Johnson | He’s not playing his best golf, but Caves Valley has been called a “big, Northeast, bentgrass course,” which should be right up his alley. |
Big money on the table this week and the next three as the FedExCup Playoffs start the run to East Lake.
Done is right, as in almost.
My season was done months ago but I continue this exercise for those who might need to know who to fade or a long shot to shoot the moon.
Mainly it’s therapy for me.
