We’re back to the total scoring system this week so remember to balance out the lineups.
Harbour Town Golf Links took a beating last September when Hurricane Matthew smashed up the joint.
Multiple trees were knocked over and destroyed. Some were replaced and replanted but other than that, the course is in perfect working order. The “holes” might even let a bit of sun and wind into places where they hadn’t reached in the past.
It’s still a tight fit with tiny greens and that’s not changing!
PGA Tour Fantasy Golf Game
Each week, I’ll trot out guys who I believe who fit the course, the game and the road map, plus add some substitutes. Four starters are supported by two bench players each week. Remember, once a player tees off in your lineup he burns a start, so make sure you need to sub out instead of want to sub out.
You’ll learn a few things about me each week in this column.
Games, like this one, that involve daily substitution options, I am terrible at playing.
I’ll give you my best four starters and two bench options but it’s up to you to outguess me on which rounds they should sit or play.
Last Week — Masters
- Tournament Points: 683
- Tournament Rank: 884
- Season Points: 18,681
- Season Rank: 44th
I set it and forgot it after switching out DJ for Rose so I never got Casey off the bench.
Oh well.
Of the final two pairings I had three in my four-man team so I’m not going to pretend I’m happy or mad.
I had the Spieth-Fowler-Rose troika in every format Masters week so whatever. It could have been better but it wasn’t.
I was pleased at the final total as every player in the game was eligible and it was “bring your best”.
Congratulations to Sergio and seeing that I moved up 11 places this week, I wasn’t the only gamer not to have faith in the Spaniard!
Onward and upward!
This Week
Harbour Town Golf Links has been the only host in 48 previous years so course form is definitely a thing this week.
So is weather and it’s going to be beautiful according to the early week forecast.
This is week No. 2 of the third session so my strategy is as follows: FIRE AIM READY!
I’m back in the top 50 not because of my stunning good looks and winning personality but rather that I’m making decent picks.
I’m going to fire at it because I know the top 100 or so will be at THE PLAYERS and I’ll have plenty of options. Also, Erin Hills is a first time host of the U.S. Open and that shrinks the field TREMENDOUSLY and that’s to our advantage as well.
Alternate Alternatives
With a field this deep and essentially unlimited choices, I wouldn’t be adverse to throw in a wild card or two. Remember, you are NOT required to put them in your lineup!
Bill Haas
Pat Perez
Marc Leishman
Charley Hoffman
Martin Kaymer
Matthew Fitzpatrick
Good Luck!
