OAD: TOUR Championship

It might be THEIR finale but we’re finally done.

Congrats to those who set records, won tournaments and cashed checks.

I was 0-3 in those three categories but all was not lost.

A quick look back at 2020-21 and the 49 events and why last week didn’t surprise me one bit.

2020-2021 OAD

50 events, the most since the mid-70s, will give us plenty of time for strategy, strength and disaster.

Remember, if you don’t like it, you get DOUBLE YOUR MONEY BACK!

Last Week – FedExCup Playoffs Event No. 2

BMW Championship

An absolutely fitting end to an absolutely brutal season. For the second time this year my OAD pick was defeated by Patrick Cantlay in a playoff. Collin Morikawa was knocked out at Memorial and now Bryson DeChambeau at Caves Valley. With ZERO wins on the board, it stings a bit more but I wasn’t contending anyhow. The dude who won Spotter’s league set a new record with almost $16 million over 50 events. I broke $8 million with P2.

Now, the good news.

Always look on the bright side of life, right? Almost 33% of my picks went for top 10s so I wasn’t LAWST. You do need a bit of luck and good fortune and mine didn’t start until about March. The hole I dug was immense and the premium players I fired didn’t fire at the time of use.

Jon Rahm T23 at Winged Foot. Wrong US Open. Wrongo.

No money in the largest prize pool on TOUR, THE PLAYERS.

No money in the no cut WGC events.

We move on.

THE CHOICE: Bryson DeChambeau – P2

This has been the plan all along so why deviate from it?

General Custer once remarked, MAN, THAT’S A SHIT TON OF INDIANS, so I get it.

Big, big ballpark, read more in Horses for Courses, for him to swing it and make a buncha birdies ok.

If not, he’ll at least be limbering up for the world’s longest drive contest…

LET’S GOOOOOOOOOOOO*

*I have no chance of winning anything in my OAD league so be aware haha*

Make a putt, fam.

One of the greatest playoffs ever doesn’t need rehashing here.

Big track. Bentgrass. Par-5 holes. That’s where he lights up. That’s where I’ll use him in the future.

Safety Dance:

There is no longer safety.

Play the best, hottest available.

Spicy: If you’re chasing…

Last week we saw plenty of dudes from down the board make waves but it was still a premium player, although short in career wins, take the top spot.

Kevin Na: Pegging top 10s for fun all of a sudden, ride that hot. T17

Cam Davis: Gotta have a bomber or two, right? T29

Any of the guys I highlighted last week: I’ve been a day late and a dollar short all year. It’s still bent. It’s still lengthy. It’s still tough greens to hit.

3 AM at the Blackjack Table:

Talor Gooch – T57, Harry Higgs – T38, Maverick McNealy – T63, Cameron Tringale – T52

This Week – The TOUR Championship

THE CHOICE: Season Over

Thank god.

See everyone for the Fortinet Championship at Silverado in two weeks.

Please read Horses for Courses or my preview for thoughts if you are playing this week.

2018-19

My contributions for the major championships and PLAYERS selection were worse than bad so to still break the $10 million mark with those awful results was encouraging.

Another valuable lesson learned is that the Playoffs are for the big boys. Now, WHICH big boys make this more and more difficult and that’s why it’s enjoyable and maddening all at the same time. Only McIlroy and Woods have won the FedExCup twice so start there.
