OAD: 2020 Genesis Invitational

This man is in charge.

Shocking that he’s never won this event.

Only one SoCal player has, yep, that John Merrick.

The star this week just maybe the course

Welcome aboard!

If you need more explanations, please go back and read last week or the week of Sentry. I’m trying to streamline this for the degenerates who want the pick NOW NOW NOW.

Can’t get out of my own way! MC in this game is just a killer.

Oh, and so is NOT picking winners.

Last Week – AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

THE PICK

Brandt Snedeker: MC

Well, that worked out like a steaming pile of clams baking in the California sunshine.  I hope you didn’t stop reading because it looks like I had a decent handle on the rest.

Safety Dance:

Jason Day – 4th: TAKE JASON DAY IN THIS EVENT EVER YEAR YOU DUMBASS.

Dustin Johnson – T32: Two things bothered me: Second year in a row Saudi/Pebble garbage Pebble. Also shit it in the wind (78) on Sunday wasn’t something I expected.

Phil Mickelson – 3rd: Should have won and that will sting. Adding $538k to the bottom line won’t.

Paul Casey – T64: Smoooooooooooooooooooooth 81 on Sunday had to piss just about everyone off.

Spicy:

Jordan Spieth – T9: Low round on Sunday (67) rewarded those with patience.

Branden Grace – MC: And yeah. That’ll teach me.

Graeme McDowell – MC: Makes sense that the guy turning 50 in June was the best Saudi-Pebble connector, eh?

Max Homa – T14: Super run continues as he hits top 14 for the third straight event.

3AM at the Blackjack Table:

Daniel Berger – T5, Scott Piercy – T18, Kevin Streelman – 2nd, Scott Stallings – MC

This Week – The Genesis Invitational

Get Horsed for Coursed HERE.

The column above goes into greater detail on what I believe it’s going to take to win this week and obviously that influences what I write below:

THE PICK

Justin Thomas:

Elevated tournament status comes with a very nice payday so he makes even more sense this week. He’s already done the Kobe tribute and had a week to tune up T3 from Scottsdale. It’s well documented he should have won here last year as he led by four after 54. It’s also well documented that Tiger Woods “carried his ass” at the Presidents Cup and JT will be looking to extract a bit of THAT revenge as well.

Safety Dance:

Bubba Watson: Piping-hot form and the #Landlord here.

Rory McIlroy: This will be an easier field to beat than any major and nobody has even gone back-to-back at THE PLAYERS.

Dustin Johnson: 10 of 12 weekends have resulted in EIGHT top-10s. I mean…

Spicy:

Jon Rahm: I’m not sure if once is enough here but he’s absolutely steam-rolling fields the last six months. There are safer places for my money.

Patrick Cantlay: I have a feeling I might be regretting this come Sunday evening. Lightly raced but T11 last week knocked off any rust.

Tony Finau: He either takes it next level after the playoff loss in Scottsdale or he takes it to the next level after the playoff loss in Scottsdale. The lack of win tickets in his CV is my only concern, again.

Max Homa: I can’t find a reason to drop him. Home game for the Burbank native and he’s sharp as his Twitter right now.

3AM at the Blackjack Table:

Last week I stuck two in the TOP FIVE down here!

Jason Kokrak, Ryan Moore, Abraham Ancer, Carlos Ortiz

Check out my previous results below if you need a history lesson:

History Channeled:

2018-19

My majors contributions and PLAYERS selection were worse than bad so to still break the $10 million mark with those awful results was encouraging.

Another valuable lesson learned is that the Playoffs are for the big boys. Now, WHICH big boys make this more and more difficult and that’s why it’s enjoyable and maddening all at the same time. Only McIlroy and Woods have won the FedExCup twice so start there.
