Getting Bubba when he’s in the mood is important. Great week last week and a super history here. The Travelers is no longer the layup it used to be as that field swells annually.
For those of you who don’t remember, Bubba was won Riviera three of the last six years so you get your chance NEXT week! I hope I don’t regret going early!

THE PICK
Brandt Snedeker:
I’m not worried about the MC last week because that’s his annual tune-up for playing here. Excellent podium at Torrey Pines is more interesting because the weather should be similar. The two-time champ has racked up his wins on coastal tracks so that’s the tie-breaker.
Safety Dance:
Jason Day: Unbelievable record here doesn’t include a win.
Dustin Johnson: Played in the Saudi desert last week and went close. Is this is new decompression spot with FIL Gretzky or is he up for winning? Saved to later.
Phil Mickelson: Also went close in Saudi last week and I have no idea he’ll react to the tight travel week. Glad I’ve already burned him for a MC so I don’t have to decide.
Paul Casey: Should have won last year and was T8 in 2018.
Spicy:
Jordan Spieth: Course form suggests he can. Form suggests he won’t.
Branden Grace: Another who prefers links and coastal golf plus he’s won this year.
Graeme McDowell: Hard to go back-to-back anywhere let alone half a world away. Playing great.
Max Homa: Making cuts for fun and racking up top-10 paydays.

My majors contributions and PLAYERS selection were worse than bad so to still break the $10 million mark with those awful results was encouraging.
Another valuable lesson learned is that the Playoffs are for the big boys. Now, WHICH big boys make this more and more difficult and that’s why it’s enjoyable and maddening all at the same time. Only McIlroy and Woods have won the FedExCup twice so start there.
