18 Thoughts: Round 2 Farmers Insurance Open 2020

Moving Day at Torrey Pines South is delayed so read this to pass the time.

Or go putt.

1.) 79 players at 1-under will play the weekend on the South Course.

2.) This time last year Justin Rose equaled the 36-hole scoring record on 15-under. He posted 63 on the North last year but just 70 this time around to MC.

3.) Ryan Palmer made 11 birdies on the North but his bogey at the last saw him miss tying the course record by a shot. He leads by two and was T13-P2 the last two years.

4.) Number of putts it took Tiger to get it in the hole to start his round. His 71 on the South Course sees him begin the weekend T17.

5.) JB Holmes has three, top-six finishes in the last five years (T3).

6.) Sebastian “Bassy” Cappelen opened with 66 on the South to share the lead. Makes sense he followed it up with 71 on the “easy” North.

7.) 73.3 South vs 70.6 North

8.) Brandt Snedeker has won this event twice. He’s in the final group with Palmer.

9.) Lucas Glover (T17) matched Snedeker for the low round of the day on the South Course with 67.

10.) First-timers Bassy Cappelen, Harry Higgs and Matt NeSmith are all in the top 10.

11.) Co-FRL Keegan Bradley missed on from 18 inches but is still in the top 10. 18 inches, man. Golf is hard.

12.) Collin Morikawa beat Tiger Woods and Jon Rahm by two shots on the South in Round 2. Any questions?

13.) Only Rose and Ben Crane (2010) have won playing the North Course first.

14.) This week’s MCHOF: Rose, Woodland, Fowler, Mickelson, Schauffele, Franny Molly and Scottie Scheffler.

15.) Glover’s 67 on the South was also bogey-free. It’s the only on so far this week. Proper golf.

16.) Brandon Wu had it to 8-under before leaking oil down the stretch. I’d write his name down if I were you.
