I’m not angry at Schauffele.

Or McDowell.

I was down to him and McIlroy and chose incorrectly.

This Week

The Honda Classic provides an interesting challenge this week. The two schools of thought should included taking a premium or “at home” player or somebody completely off the pace to sneak in and make noise.

The field and prize pool supports the latter so this should be a good week for those trying to make up ground if the chalk falters.

Now, about that chalk.

With the exception of Adam Long and Kevin Tway, it has been a chalk-filled beginning to the season. Big-name players and/or veteran winners are picking up the checks while the others look to get a foothold. If you’re leading in your game, I keep the pedal down and fire a heavy hitter. If you’re not as fortunate to be near the top, I might dig a layer deeper and hope the trend takes a week off.

My Choice: Adam Scott

I’m not using him at Augusta and his flaky schedule never gives me any confidence for “saving” him down the road. I wish the wind was belting this week but he’s proven over the last four years he knows exactly what is necessary to navigate the Champion Course.

Safety Dance: Sergio Garcia, Rickie Fowler, Gary Woodland

Spicy: Daniel Berger, Billy Horschel, Graeme McDowell

Picks for Dreamers: Michael Thompson, Scott Piercy, Charl Schwartzel

Picks for Noses: Alex Noren, Justin Thomas (why use him in an event with a purse of this size if you can use him in four majors?)

Six Beers In: Webb Simpson, Patton Kizzire
