OAD: 2019 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Top 10s: 3 MC: 3 $1,890,300

Last Time: WMPO

Hindsight in this game is always wonderful but I could have just as easily went with Mickelson as I could have Fowler last week so I’m not upset. The plan from Day 1 was to use Matsuyama here and that’s what’s happened. Justin Thomas now has two podiums in three events in 2019. He had three all of last year. He shouldn’t have any or many restrictions moving forward.

My Choice: Hideki Matsuyama – T15

Safety Dance: Phil Mickelson – MC, Rickie Fowler – WIN

Spicy: Gary Woodland – T7 (only Matsuyama, Johnny Miller and The King have repeated at this event), Webb Simpson – T20, Matt Kuchar – T4

Picks for Dreamers: Daniel Berger – MC, Ryan Palmer – T60, Andrew Putnam – MC

Picks for Noses: Justin Thomas – 3rd (no need to force it, I said…), Tony Finau (record here is dire) – MC, Bubba Watson – T4 (wait for Riviera, I said…)

Six Beers In: Martin Laird – T26, Brendan Steele – MC, Trey Mullinax – T15

This Week

Read about all the details in The Confidence Factor.

The pro-am format, the weather on the weekend (read: brrrrrrr) and three old-school tracks makes this week a leap of faith. I’m sticking with the fundamentals this week as I know the guys who annually play here know the score. They’ve bought into to the format, chance of weather and a chance to get extra reps before the 2019 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach in June.

My Choice: Jason Day

Safety Dance: Brandt Snedeker, Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson

Spicy: Jordan Spieth, Patrick Reed, Tommy Fleetwood

Picks for Dreamers: Shane Lowry, Chez Reavie, Tony Finau

Picks for Noses: Any rookie, Any non-winner on TOUR, Any player under 30 who isn’t a prominent world player

Six Beers In: Matt Jones, Adam Hadwin, Jimmy Walker
