PGA TOUR Fantasy Game — CareerBuilder Challenge

Time to find guys who can go low and stay low as the scoring changes this week!

The desert has been kind to first-time winners and veterans over the last decade.

Probably won’t hurt to sort through all of this if you have any questions!

Welcome to 2018!

In here, you’ll find my BRIEF thoughts and strategy for the PGA TOUR Fantasy game.

It’s no secret that I cannot stand substitution games but I’m always using it to my advantage when it benefits ME.

I finished in the top 100 last year so I’ve figured something out, BUT:

I’m off to a terrible start in 2017-18.

1.) I forgot to play one week.

2.) I had ALL SIX GUYS miss the cut at The RSM Classic to end my chances, er, season in 2017.

After reading that, I’m surprised any of you would read on but alas, I’ll forge ahead for those who do.

Last Week — Sony Open

  • Tournament Points: 1,477
  • Tournament Rank: 3,426
  • Season Points: 6,692
  • Season Rank: 4,146

There’s nothing worse than having Jordan Spieth fire when affixed to the bench. This is where this game can really nip you. Spieth finished T18 but was one of the top 6 performers for the week. You were rewarded for starting and playing a guy who didn’t even hit the top 15!

What a time to be alive!

Somebody will have to explain to me someday why leaderboard position in this game is basically irrelevant.

The good news is that I have another start on Spieth (two remaining from three total) that I can use down the road. The bad news is that doesn’t guarantee he’ll hit the top six again. The good news is he’s rather good and could possibly win when I start him. At least that’s what I told myself crying in the corner when I found this out!

We move on.

This Week

Pro-am fever has struck the Coachella Valley and it’s time to make birdies!

The top 70 after 54 holes will make the cut but if there are more than 78 teams, only the top 60 will play on. When the weather was nice in 2016, the first year, the cut was nine-under-par. Last year it was only five as it was chilly and breezy.

Since this event is NOT LASERED by ShotLink, you’ll receive points in the scoring format only. This will also be the case next week at the Farmers and at AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am the second week in February.

Here’s the rotation, compliments of Rob Bolton:

No chance of T18 being any good this week says I!
