This is the final tournament of the segment and a nice, soft landing after the U.S. Open.
This is the 66th Travelers Championship but first with this guy in the field.
If he’s available to you in this format this week you’re not doing it right.
PGA Tour Fantasy Golf Game
Each week, I’ll trot out guys who I believe who fit the course, the game and the road map, plus add some substitutes. Four starters are supported by two bench players each week. Remember, once a player tees off in your lineup he burns a start, so make sure you need to sub out instead of want to sub out.
You’ll learn a few things about me each week in this column.
Games, like this one, that involve daily substitution options, I am terrible at playing.
I’ll give you my best four starters and two bench options but it’s up to you to outguess me on which rounds they should sit or play.
Last Time — U.S. Open
- Tournament Points: 236
- Tournament Rank: 8,293
- Season Points: 27,574
- Season Rank: 99
Dropping from No. 90 to No. 99 with only two of six players making the weekend has never felt so good.
With only scoring involved this week, I loaded up, as did most, with the heavy hitters.
With eight of the top 12 in the OWGR taking the last flight out Friday night it’s hardly a surprise there was this much carnage.
I had half of those four players (Fowler, Spieth) and gave you Matsuyama and Koepka in Alternate Alternatives so I’m not dropping my head.
This Week
With everyone resetting to three uses in the new segment next week, there shouldn’t be much discussion this week.
I’ll remind you that multiple styles win and have done well here because the distance isn’t troubling and neither are the green complexes.
The average winning score hovers around 15-under-par and that’s four-under per round almost. You better find guys who can get the ball in the hole and who can paint GIR.
At least that’s where I’m going!
Alternate Alternatives
Hell, I’d have no problem with these six guys either!

Good Luck!
