Valero Texas Open DFS

04-19-17

Better have a lineup where most of the guys can launch it this week on one of the more challenging courses on Tour.

Everything is bigger in Texas and the par fives this week fit that label.

DraftKings has plenty of ways to join the action weekly in a salary-cap-format game. Gamers pick six players on a budget of $50,000 and hope they make the cut and go low. Each week I’ll list the players who I think have the most value and give examples of potential lineups.

Last Week:

Kevin Kisner ($9,700): He was on the lead with 12 holes to play before closing five-over. Sigh.

Bill Haas ($9,100): MC. Dead as fried chicken.

Charley Hoffman ($8,700): MC. See above.

Pat Perez ($8,100): 81 on Saturday, T-70.

William McGirt ($7,900): T-3.

Geoff Ogilvy ($6,500): His run of nine in a row at Harbour Town crashed out with MC.

Gut Shot(s)

One ping. One ping only.

Bryce Molder ($6,500): T-44 makes it three-in-a-row at HTGL.

All-or-nothing week was disappointing but I didn’t see three “rookies” in the top five either. I also faded Luke Donald in all formats and paid dearly across the board.

Live and learn folks.

Shut up.

This Week:

Not too many shawties are going to occupy the leaderboard this week on a long, strong windy Oaks course so make sure you find the hot ones.

With some of the hardest par fives on Tour I’ll lean on those who will have the better chances of getting there in two. #BombSquad.

My lineup this week:

Brendan Steele ($9,900): His course form merits attention and his overall consistent play this season makes for a solid option that won’t carry 50% of the action.

Kevin Chappell ($9,400): Very solid in all facets, Chappell has turned up the heat recently. I usually don’t like spending this coin on a non-winner but his T-7 at Augusta warmed me up.

Billy Horschel ($8,900): I’ll lean on the ALL half of his formula this week as he’s hit the top four three times in his last four here.

Ryan Palmer ($8,600): A pair of top 10’s the last two years and plenty of momentum after last week at Hilton Head. Native Texan feels right at home and he should be above Chappell in the price department.

Daniel Summerhays ($7,000): Another player that is well below value this week so get all you can. He’s the Luke Donald of TPC San Antonio.

Martin Flores ($6,200): Texan who’s has posted plenty of red numbers here with three top 25’s in five starts. Shhhhhhhh.

Plan B

For those of you who need options or alternates check my preview for others who may fit in different price ranges as I’ve weighed in a on a bunch of dudes in there.

Gut Shot(s)

One ping. One ping only.

David Hearn ($6,500): He’s played four times. He’ finished T-11 and T-13 and MC times two. He cashed last week on a track he usually struggles on so I’m playing the bounce. Gulp.

Good luck you chops!
