No excuses this week as the new session means EVERYONE is eligible.
The only stat that matters this week is how many after each round so bring the firepower!
PGA Tour Fantasy Golf Game
Each week, I’ll trot out guys who I believe who fit the course, the game and the road map, plus add some substitutes. Four starters are supported by two bench players each week. Remember, once a player tees off in your lineup he burns a start, so make sure you need to sub out instead of want to sub out.
You’ll learn a few things about me each week in this column.
Games, like this one, that involve daily substitution options, I am terrible at playing.
I’ll give you my best four starters and two bench options but it’s up to you to outguess me on which rounds they should sit or play.
Last Week — Shell Houston Open
- Tournament Points: 1,115
- Tournament Rank: 5,938
- Season Points: 17,998
- Season Rank: 55th
Well, I survived!
Last week, I had no chance to burn Spieth, Fowler, Howell III, etc., because I had used them earlier in the year and were out of starts.
Those decisions were made and I reached as high as the top 30 at one point so I’m not disappointed.
Since it was the final week of the session, I had to make due with what was left.
I limped home with only three players but one was the winner and another, Jon Rahm, hit the top 10 so complete disaster was avoided. Of my three players to MC, one led the Tour in consecutive cuts made (Scott); another was second in consecutive cuts made (Reed). The final player to MC was the 2015 champ at this event! I get one, maybe two but ALL THREE???
Unlucky.
Onward and upward!
This Week
They’ve done this on purpose, I know, but it’s a brand-new session so everyone is available for selection.
The biggest part of this week is not falling behind! If Henrik Stenson breaks out of his funk this week, good for the folks who had him. I’m not taking a chance on a guy coming good on a very difficult golf course with very difficult conditions the first two days.
Also remember that this week is based on SCORING only so that might make some lineups adjust differently.
Get out the chalk, folks!
Alternate Alternatives
With a field this deep and essentially unlimited choices, I wouldn’t be adverse to throw in a wild card or two. Remember, you are NOT required to put them in your lineup!
Phil Mickelson
Daniel Berger
Jason Day
Hideki Matsuyama
Bill Haas
Ross Fisher
Good Luck!
