API PGA Tour Game

03-15-17

With only three weeks left in the segment it’s time to light the big candles!

I’m hanging tough in the top 50 but will need a big performance from the big boys this week.

Especially this guy:

PGA Tour Fantasy Golf Game

Each week, I’ll trot out guys who I believe who fit the course, the game and the road map, plus add some substitutes. Four starters are supported by two bench players each week. Remember, once a player tees off in your lineup he burns a start, so make sure you need to sub out instead of want to sub out.

You’ll learn a few things about me each week in this column.

Games, like this one, that involve daily substitution options, I am terrible at playing.

I’ll give you my best four starters and two bench options but it’s up to you to outguess me on which rounds they should sit or play.

Last Week — Valspar Championship

  • Tournament Points: 1,001
  • Tournament Rank: 5,325
  • Season Points: 15,497
  • Season Rank: 32nd

Henrik Stenson in the starting lineup paired with Graham DeLaet were my highest two point getters. Sadly, none of my four hit the “perfect” lineup this week but having four was better than having three!

I slept through Sean O’Hair’s WD on Saturday so I took a donut in one of my spots and that day.

Justin Thomas burned plenty last week and I was in that boat!

I leaned heavily on Haas and Woodland in this game as well to no avail but didn’t drop or gain any points on the season.

Whew.

Onward and upward!

This Week

The key in this game is playing chalk and managing starts. With only Puerto Rico and Shell Houston remaining in the segment, there should be ample chances to field a massive lineup.

I’ve stressed this before but chalk is the way to go in this game and I’m not changing my mind now. Yes, this is a recording and I cannot emphasize it enough. There are just enough top-level cats in this field that should insulate me against the up-and-comers!

I’m looking for balance to some degree with a couple of putters to go along with the bombers. At this point in the session, I’m just looking to get over the finish line for the reset at Augusta. The folks chasing have to make a risky move, not me!

Bay Hill
