Last Week
Rank: 5,895 ($431,408)
Reinforced a valuable lesson last week that picking chalk in this game in the top groups rarely hurts. Sure, Jason Day shot a million on Saturday (79) but he finished T-23 after rebounding on Sunday (68). Kuchar might not have been the best earner in Group 2 but again, there’s nobody much safer in fantasy land.
The point is if you’re going to take a chance or chances (Kisner, Dechambeau) it won’t hurt to “partner” them up with known quantities. Four chalks or four chances isn’t smart gaming strategy.
DeChambeau is the real deal Holyfield folks. Get used to it. Game with your wallet, not your heart!
This Week
Group 1: Jimmy Walker
Group 2: Charley Hoffman
Group 3: Bryson DeChambeau
Group 4: Si Woo Kim
Total Birdies: 22
Group 1: Came down to the defending champ or the guy with the most top 10s (7) on TOUR this season. Man who’s made the most birdies here the last two years won out narrowly. Only option in Group 1 that makes me squirm this week is Snedeker
Group 2: The key is his current form is also very solid at the moment. #FantasyLifeJacket Matt Kuchar joins a group of 10-12 that will make this the group of separation this week.
Group 3: Right back to the kid this week after leading the RBC Heritage in strokes-gained: tee-to-green and finishing T-4. Aaron Baddeley has flashed recent form with a pair of top 10s and Andrew Loupe was T-4 here two years ago and fits the profile.
Group 4: Can’t sneak Bryson in here this week! Well, 28% of us sneaked him in last week and were handsomely rewarded. Those of you paying attention who scrolled all the way to the bottom of Group 4 will notice Kim at the bottom and un-ranked. Not bad for a guy with T-13 and T-14 in his last two. Desperation picks of Brice Garnett or Cameron Percy due to their course form could net gamers a made cut.
